The Social Security Administration pays Supplemental Security Income benefits (SSI) to people who have limited income and who are disabled, blind, or age 65 or older. Blind or otherwise disabled children, as well as adults, can get SSI benefits. Unlike Social Security benefits, SSI benefits are not based on your prior work or a family member's prior work. They are paid, not by Social Security taxes, but by other federal funds, including the personal and corporate income taxes paid by the general U.S. population. If you have applied for SSI benefits and your claim has been denied, or you received benefits but disagree with the amount, Nelson Law Office, through its Social Security Disability Law Center can effectively represent you in your appeal to the Social Security Administration. Our job is to help you substantiate your claim for SSI benefits on appeal and get you the SSI benefits you deserve. We help you obtain your medical records, income and other resource records, and prepare the evidence necessary to prove your case at your appeal hearing.
